We wanted to meet our DD and family for a Thanksgiving cruise. Since they live in Austin and we are in the Florida Panhandle, Houston seemed to be the answer. Reciprocal benefits led us to choose the Liberty of the Seas which we thoroughly enjoyed. We loved the vibe (we are in early 70s) on the Liberty and were most impressed with all the entertainment options ranging from the ice show to Saturday Night Fever. The solo performers were excellent and we even got to hear Mark Preston for a third time.
Our cabin felt larger than our usual Blu cabin on –X-, but the bathroom was not as large. Other differences were subtle and minor. We missed the smoke-free casino. Food is so subjective, but none of us starved – actually we were stuffed when we left. Ship sponsored shore excursions were fine although the Shorex personnel were the weakest part of the crew. The shoreside operation in Galveston was so much more friendly and organized than anything we have ever experienced in FLL. There were 12 customs agents on our return. Last time in FLL, there were 3. We enjoyed it so much, that we booked again for next year even though the kids are unable to do it then.
Great cabin. Quite clean and well maintained. Soft goods need refreshing which I am sure will happen in January 16 during drydock.
Great embarkation/debarkation port. Very efficient traffic flow. Friendly staff. Lots of porters and 12 customs agents.
