The long delay in embarking on the ship was the first indication that this was going to be a bad cruise. Though the Spirit has 13 bay doors, only one was being used to load our luggage. This caused a traffic jam at the port.

On St. Thomas, we had to tender. I watched the crewman try to hoist the NCL flag on the tender for nearly one-half hour before giving up. We had tender ticket number #18. After 1-1/2 hrs., the crew was still only on ticket #2. It took several representatives (working through until I found one who understood English) before I finally found an officer who understood my frustration and had us follow a Guest Services Rep down to the awaiting tender. This became an official issue, #129291, for complaint to NCL.

The food was bland in the complimentary restaurants, the Windows and the Gardens. Windows requires a better dress code for dinner, yet their menus are the same. ??? Raffles buffet food was the worst.

Cabin OA

The cabin, though tended sporadically by the steward, was average.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

Once on the island, we took an island tour on Jackie's Taxi Service. It was delightful, informative and well worth the $20. We saw Meghan's Beach (beautiful) and went to the highest point on the island, Mountain Top, home to the best banana dacquiris in the world. Some on our bus confirmed it indeed was a fact.

Tortola

The port is still under construction. It is dirty, dusty and a long walk to the stores.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Traffic is congested.
