I had booked my first ever cruise to celebrate my 65th birthday and chose P&O on recomendations of friends and family. As I had never been on a cruise before a weeks cruise seemed long enough and boy oh boy am I glad that it was only a week.

From first setting foot on board Oceana my heart sank. This was not the gleaming vessel I had expected but a tired rust bucket. For the length of the cruise there were plastic buckets in the corridor leading to our cabin catching the drips from the deck above add to this a strong smell of sewage which did not go away for the whole of the seven days aboard. It was not the experience I had expected.

Dinner on the first evening was not what I had been lead to belive. I ordered Prawn Cocktail as a starter. I can honestly say it was the worst Prawn Cocktail I had ever had. It was waterery , tasteless and came with very little Marie Rose Sauce. The food did not get any better at all and can be best descrided as cafeteria food.
