This was our third trip on Celebrity - we had been on the Eclipse back in 2012 and loved it, and then the Summit last year (which was just meh). For our return to Celebrity, we decided to go back to the "big" ships...we were not disappointed!

Embarkation was very easy...we showed up at 12:45, 15 minutes after our embark time, and were on board within 20 minutes. Of course the Oceanview Cafe was swamped, but we managed to find a decent table within 10 minutes and had an okay first meal (I'm never impressed at buffets, but there is plenty to choose from and nothing was horrible). We then grabbed chairs by the pool until muster (a great day to do it, as it was a bit cloudy and pretty desolate on the deck).

Dining & bar service overall this trip was good - not as great as what we experienced on the Eclipse in 2012 but much better than our Summit cruise last year. The fresh egg station at breakfast was always great, and I even enjoyed the buffet lunches enough to skip Bistro on 5. We found our favorite servers in the cafe early on and made sure to sit in that section for better drink service. Had burgers from the Mast Grill one day as well for a change. We had quite a few "misses" on our entrees in Grand Cuvee (just not what I wanted), but I normally got 2 appetizers anyway (which were almost all amazing), so I followed up with 2 desserts on nights where I didn't have a full main course. Our assistant waiter, Alvin, was particularly good! Our sommelier, Maja, was very nice, but the sommelier staff seemed to be severely understaffed. She had so many tables that we often had appetizers before she made it to our table to take our wine order. A bit frustrating but not the end of the world. We ate dinner in Qsine one night, thanks to some generous OBC from our travel agent. Service was amazing and the food was pretty good, but I'm not sure I'd pay $45pp again to eat there again. Had quite a few stops at the Cafe al Bacio for coffee, water and beer, and greatly enjoyed the Ensemble Lounge, Martini Bar and Cellar Masters.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1C

Cabin 1C

Loved, loved, LOVED the location of this cabin...six doors down from the elevators on the aft, so super quick access to just about everything except for the Theater. We barely used the balcony, but it was nice to have the sunshine and view. We booked a veranda guarantee so this was a pleasant surprise.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Very easy port for embark! Took a shuttle from our hotel as taxis weren't easily available, but it's so close to the airport & most of the main hotel areas.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

The public tenders were excellent. Town itself is okay. Take a taxi to Hell or Seven Mile for land tourism, or an excursion out to the stingray reef for water fun.

Falmouth

Falmouth (or any of the Jamaica ports, it seems) are a bit far from the "action." We walked around the port area bit and then ventured into the actual city for a bit as well. Not a lot within walking distance.

Labadee

Not an adventurer, nor am I big on created towns, so not my favorite. It is beautiful, though! Would have rather done another port not created by RCI.

Cozumel

Booked with Aldora upon recommendations from friends...more expensive than the others, but they use larger tanks, and we got a lot more time under water than you would with other providers. Would definitely use them again!
