We booked this cruise as a back to back against my better judgement. Unfortunately Royal Caribbean dates did not work out with the kids school schedules this time around. My husband said lets try it! The ship is a lovely ship. Kept clean and neat. This is our first time away from Royal Caribbean and our first time on a massive ship. The size was not the problem. The entire ship made no sense. The theater was small, the atrium had many game shows that made both the main atrium and the deck above a zoo to navigate. There was no rhyme or reason to anything. The service was by far the worst I have ever seen. I did not get asked once in 2 weeks if I wanted a drink anywhere on the ship. When we were at dinner, we were served water. If you wanted anything else, good luck. I did not like the whole free style thing. I missed the connection made with the crew. I miss coming to dinner on the second night and having the waiters know what we wanted to drink and having it waiting on the table for us. It was like you were a burden to them. I understand that they are exhausted, I get that, but something was different. They do not go above and beyond the minimum. The food was lackluster unless you were paying extra. Even at that, the Italian restaurant made Olive Garden look and taste like gourmet. The Brazilian BBQ- Moderno- was a death by meat experience that made me dislike meat for a while. Cagneys steak house was the best option for an extra charge of $40 per person.. I am starting to wonder what my cruise fare actually paid. The shows were mostly by reservation.. We did not make one and were rudely told at the theater that "we could go in this time" and were shooed inside. We got to see Rock of ages which is a great musical. I'm not a musical fan but this was great. I did not get to see Burn the Floor because I got the dreaded Norovirus but the rest of the family said it was quite boring. Howl at the moon on the first leg of the trip was GREAT!! They consisted of Chris, Drew & Colleen. What a talented group of people and kept us entertained. The second week Drew & Colleen left and were replaced by 2 others. I felt bad for Chris because he is super talented and super funny but the replacements bought him down and we could not sit for more than 3 songs before we snuck out. The Casino is pretty tight with its payouts and the stench of smoke it horrendous. Possibly a better exhaust system?! Did I mention that 5 of 6 of my group had the Norovirus?? so needless to say the 2nd part of the trip was a disaster. Both trips we missed Stirrup Cay due to the rough waves. I'm o.k. with the safety issue but I am not ok with the fact that this is a bad time of year to tender so why go there? I feel ripped off 2 weeks in a row.. Oh yeah, did I mention how in 2 weeks I did not see a beach? Stirrup cay was disappointing to miss. We did arrive in the Bahamas a day early for both trips but going in to a dangerous area in the dark is not my cup of tea. Its bad enough during the day. When the kids joined us in the Bahamas, we rented a van with a few other people to be driven to a beach with chairs. We were driven the "popular" beach in a very shady area met up by some very shady people. We were brought to this long strip of beach that led to atlantis that could not be used because the waves were so bad and the undertow was very dangerous. So needless to say we were taken by an older lady that looked like she could be trusted but apparently not. We walked the small strip of beach and wound up at atlantis and took a cab back. While I know that was not Norwegians issue, it still put a damper on a already lack luster vacation. I am unhappy with the customer service. All I would hear on every line you stood on (and there were many lines!) was how Royal Caribbean was much better. As new and big as this ship is, the planning is very poor. The elevators are dark, everything was just dark and dreary. The balconies in the mini suites were tiny, the air conditioner barely worked, the hallways by the rooms were very narrow. Disembarkation was even more of joke. We chose to walk off the ship since we did not want to be on any longer than necessary. We were told to meet in the theater at 7:30 a.m. We got there and the line went from one end of the ship to the other. The line looped around the smoked filled casino and looped around, my asthamic son was not enjoying it. the line to walk off was so long it looped from the front of the boat to the back. at first it was orderly but once the end of the line had run out of space and looped into the casino, all hell broke loose because the people waiting on line for an hour were being cut off by people who just got in line. No organization, not safe at all. So my lackluster experience on Norwegian is enough for me to say No More. and the feeling was mutual judging by the myriad of complaints I heard through out the ship. Many unhappy people. Scott the Cruise Director seemed like a really nice guy but maybe too young for the job. Simple things on this cruise just didn't make any sense. like Bingo in a cramped small lounge when it should be in the theater for the larger crowds. The atrium was always jammed packed and very loud. Not very safe. The atrium should not hold game shows and competitions, how is everyone supposed to walk through?! And for the love of all that's decent could they please clean the public rest rooms so one does not gag as they walked in? They were the smelliest I have ever encountered and the designer should be fired as you could not walk in some of the bathrooms without hitting the person at the sink and then could not pass to get to toilet. I could go on and on but why bother, nothing will get better- go check for yourself.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

Was a little nervous about the whole Manhattan thing but it was better that expected. Parking is very pricey.

Nassau

can't review because could not tender there for 2 weeks in a row. Why bother going if this is a bad time of year?!
