We have cruised with Norwegian since our first cruise, our honeymoon in Oct 1985. Unfortunately I have to say this was our least pleasurable experience aboard a Norwegian Ship. The quality of service has gone downhill immensely. The check in process was great, and unfortunately that is about where it went downhill FAST. The service in the main dining rooms must have been "free" because it was "nothing" (nothing is free). I have received better service and food quality in one of our Las Vegas casino buffets than I did on board the Jewel. Went in for breakfast for example and waited 35 minutes after we ordered to get our food, and the restaurant was only about a quarter of the way full. We couldn't even get refills on our coffee or ice water without making a special request. Our room steward, although quite friendly must have also been "free" because our service from him was below our past experiences. 3 out of 7 nights he failed to fill our ice bucket. In our ice bucket was "nothing", remember "nothing is free"! This was the first cruise we have taken with Norwegian that we didn't buy art during the art auction. Oh ya, the art auction was "free" and it Included "free" champagne. The art auction was a HUGE disappointment, primarily because of the arogant art director and the fact they had us in a cramped area in hard wooden chairs sitting practically on top of each other. By the way the champagne was definitely "free" because there was "nothing". When I approached one of the assistants, he blew it off and said he would get us a bottle of champagne. We didn't want the champagne, we wanted the fun exciting auction experience we have had in the past. Once again, "nothing was free". There was one hi light of the cruise that was interesting though, they offered a tour of the ship which we have been on numerous times. This time it was $79 per person, it MUST HAVE REALLY BEEN "SOMETHING instead of "NOTHING". One last comment if "nothing is free" and we didn't get much service (basically "nothing) WHY WASN'T IT FREE? If any big wig with Norwegian reads this, you might consider having a little less "free" style on your cruises. Less free (nothing) by mean your guests might start getting "something". BTW I don't mind paying for "something". Oh ya, lobster would be nice

Overall fair. We had to struggle to close the shower door, the tv remote didn't work unless you got about three feet from the tv. Mini fridge was not restocked at all for the entire cruise, which was probably a good thing because I didn't have to pay for more than 2 of those $2.50 Diet Pepsi. Dresser drawers had bits of crumbs or something from previous cruisers.

Port Reviews

Cabo San Lucas

Loved Cabo. Would definitely visit again.

Los Angeles

Other than a brief tour of the Queen Mary, we didn't do anything
