We are seasoned cruisers sailing approximately 39 times with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Norwegian. This was our 6th cruise this year and our second cruise on the Getaway. This last cruise moved us up to the Platinum level and are looking forward to the perks associated with achieving this level.

We were very impressed with the Getaway. The ship is fairly new with a modern décor. Great restaurants, food and customer service. The food was so good in the free restaurants there was no need to go to a specialty restaurants. This was a definite change from the older seasoned ships like the Jewel, Star, Dawn and Sun. We sailed on the Dawn and Star in 2013.

I did ask some of the staff why the service and food so poor on the older ships. The common theme was that the older ships served as training ships and the high performers were transferred to the newer ships. That is really not fair to the customers.
