Here's our cruise experience on the Jan., 18th 2009 sailing. There were no problems at all with embarkation as it went quickly and smoothly. We got onto the ship within 15 minutes of our arrival at the pier and our bags were delivered to our room before 2pm. The Voyager of the Seas is a wonderful ship and in very good shape for being in service for 10 years. The Royal Promenade was a novel experience onboard a ship with its Shops, Pub, and Cafe Promenade with 24 hour casual dining offering coffee, tea, sandwiches and pizza.

We went to Windjammer several times for lunch and found the food quality and lines comparable to any other ships buffets. One feature that I did not like about the Windjammer on the VOS is that it does not open to an outdoor area where you can take your food and dine alfresco. The food in the Main dining room was good, not great, but good. The do offer steak every night and we were served lobster tails on one of the formal nights, but the food certainly isn't what it used to be. However, the food service on this cruise was outstanding. We had a wonderful and very attentive waiter and assistant waiter and by the second dinner we were feeling pleasantly spoiled by their impeccable service.

Johnny Rockets was a little disappointing. They raised the service fee from $3.95 to $4.95 and still the burgers were pre-cooked and finished off on the grill. Even so, they were tasty and the onion rings were delicious. Worth a try. We booked an inside cabin on deck 9 all the way forward and we'll never do that again. Fortunately, for the most of the cruise, the seas were slight to the moderate, but we could definitely feel the rocking and rolling. The cabin was neat and clean, the ice bucket was always filled with ice and our stateroom attendant, Deon from Jamaica was one of the best we've ever experienced. The pool deck is expansive with its two side by side pools and tiered decks that overlook the stage. We never had a problem finding lounge chairs. The Solarium adult pool is semi-enclosed but mostly open to the sky and is a good place to enjoy some quiet outdoor time and to get out of the wind.
