My wife and I have sailed on the Diamond Princess last year so we're looking forward to boarding the Dawn Princess...wow what a let down. We had a balcony stateroom which must be the smallest we have encountered on our 16 cruises. The balcony was tiny and had a lot of rust spots. This ship does not handle the Tasman sea very well and we felt like we were on a cork in a bubble bath. Then the ceiling leaks started in the crooners bar with buckets being placed all over the floor and the water was dripping like a mini shower right to when we docked back in Sydney. Our deck sprung a leak and they had to dismantle part of the ceiling. One of the staterooms down from us was flooded. We had paid a premium price for our room and the ship was being repaired around us during our holiday. Lots of very unhappy passengers, who also had to have cold showers or had no showers at all. This ship needs to be taken out of service and properly repaired.
The service on board was just great and the food was exceptional. All the staff need gold stars for what they have to put up with. The weather was not good and we could not go to Foirdland due to a storm. The cabin staff were great and really looked after our cabin. Be warned, if you are tall, like me, the showers are very small and it feels like you have to stand in the shower and part of the stateroom to move around properly. Would I go back on this ship? NO....
Very small for a balcony room. Bathroom and shower block are very small. Good spot on the ship as no noise but as this room is on deck 10 you can really feel the motion of the ship, especially in rough seas.
Walked around the central city area
