Our first time on RCL, being fairly loyal to NCL. Could not turn down a special price of under $180 pp. Arranged for our own transfers, arrived at port and bag taken and were shown into terminal around 2:45 PM. Very long lines, snaking back and forth. We got in line and moved 10 feet in 30 minutes. Went to ask someone at the door what the issue was, and got no response. As the position we were in did not allow us to see the screening area we were not aware of the power outage until we rounded the first turn in the line, some 45 minutes after we got in line. Hand screening luggage and people had slowed the line to a crawl, but no one informed us of this. Were moved to another line, at the back again, and waited another 45 minutes. Just as we reached the screening area we were told to move to the other side of the terminal as that side now had power. Back of the line again and 15 minutes to get to screening, then to registration/sail card line but told the line for our group was closed. Still another 15 minutes to get card and onto the ship. All this was port authority problem, not necessarily RCL.
Our first inside cabin and was pleasant and well kept. Mattress was a bit hard, bathroom very small. Only a single dispenser of shower gel/shampoo, no additional toiletries. No turn-down service, no mint/chocolates like other lines and no towel animals. Plenty of storage. Making the two twins into king bed meant right side of bed was difficult to get into, as edge of vanity did not allow easy passage to the side of the bed.
Food was good for the most part, typical buffet spread but dining room fare was quite good. Our single evening in the Italian specialty restaurant was excellent.
