This was a bonding cruise for the females in my family. My mom, three sisters and I (all four of us in our 50's) live in different parts of the country and don't get to spend much time together, so we opted to spend a week on this cruise, sans spouses and children. We chose to leave from Baltimore since it was easy flights for two of us and the others could drive down from New York in about five hours. We spent the night before the cruise at the Best Western Hotel and Conference center (clean but old rooms, great breakfast) and took the shuttle to the port.

This was my 4th Carnival cruise (nine in total), two others cruised before and two others never cruised. We opted for two adjoining ocean suite cabins (6164 & 6166) and the first evening requested the door between our balconies be removed (Information Desk - Deck 2) - and this was done the next morning. Not only did this create a huge balcony but we were able to easily access each others cabins without having to remember our key - or change out of our pj's.

The cabins were great. The only negatives was the difficulty in getting the room temperature correct (the thermostats didn't seem very sensitive), the remote didn't work to turn off the TV although changing channels and volumes worked fine, and no hair conditioner was provided in the bathrooms. I would have given the cabin five stars if not for these issues. Our cabin steward, Michael, was very responsive to our requests and knew our names after the first day.

Cabin Review

Ocean Suite

Cabin OS

Well appointed with comfortably hard beds and soft linens. If you can afford it I highly recommend the spaciousness of the cabin and balcony of the Ocean Suite. Don't forget to bring hair conditioner and hand lotion if you typically use them. Only soap, shower gel and shampoo are provided. The bathrobes were great!

Port Reviews

Baltimore

Well organized with plenty of seating.
