We just returned from the inaugural sailing, on Anthem of the Seas, to the southern Caribbean. This ship is not appropriate for older passengers. Here's why: the many bells and whistles, such as bumper cars, roller stating, rock climbing, and skydiving are just not realistic for older passengers.
Dining was a challenge, and we heard this complaint from many other passengers. You have a choice of classic dining or choice dining. For those who are familiar with the one large restaurant on two decks, RC has now divided them into four (4) separate restaurants. Due to the decor, table arrangements, and lack of coordination, dining was frequently a challenge for the sit-down breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you can afford to pay additional money for the specialty restaurants, do so! Otherwise, be prepared to wait, especially in Silk, which was the worst managed restaurant of the four "complimentary" dining rooms. American Icon Grill was our favorite; then Chic. If you do not have a jacket, you can still dine in The Grande; they provide you with a jacket, which you put on upon entering the dining room and then immediately remove it when you sit down!
There is little formality as to dress code. This cruise felt like a Norwegian cruise-freestyle all the way. It did not feel good to be formally dressed when the person next to you was wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
We did not take any excursions, as we have been to all of the ports before. However, leaving from Bayonne was easy, once you got through the traffic to the port. Disembarkation was the quickest and easiest experience of the 18 cruises we have taken.
