My wife and I tend to go on long cruises; longer than a week whenever possible. This is because I do a great deal of business travel and my vacations should be longer than my business trips. So, I would never have expected to ever fly to Miami for a mere 3-day cruise, but there is a reason, in fact, a very good reason, why we chose a 3-day jaunt on the Majesty of the Seas for our 34th cruise. We are booked on the Anthem of the Seas in January and are one-point shy of Diamond status in RCCL’s Crown & Anchor loyalty program. I really wanted to be Diamond for that voyage, so booking this quick getaway was a no-brainer for us. Mission accomplished.

So many reviews seem to contain words similar to “after reading the reviews here, I was skeptical…” making references to negative reviews that caused readers to think that they may be going on a poorly rated ship. I was skeptical, indeed. Not so much because of the other reviews, but because we have come of enjoy the massive ships, a myriad of dining choices and brand new vessels. We knew that the Majesty would fail on all three counts, without a fight.

Oddly enough, I was prepared to write a medium-range review of this ship, with the “mission accomplished” theme even before sailing. Not that I would have actually written the review before the experience, but I thought “how could this quick getaway possibly compare to our usual cruises”? Surprise! This ship is perfect for what it is. It was well beyond “mission accomplished”. True, it would probably have a hard time competing with other ships if it were sailing for week-long cruises, but the Majesty of the Seas has this niche of 3-4 day cruises. It is what it is and it does not fail.
