This was our fourth cruise with Princess (out of 10 total cruises). It was our first time on the Royal.

Embarkation was a breeze. My wife has some walking disability and the staff rushed her to the front of lines and allowed both of us to board the ship within 15 minutes of our arrival. The staff at the embarkation could not have been nicer.

Once on the ship, we went directly to our room (around 12:00). The luggage arrived within a couple of hours. Our room, E 618 was an obstructed balcony room. The obstruction was a tender which blocked only about a third of the view (from the bottom). When standing there was a clear view of the horizon and sea. We were easily able to see beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The room itself had a nice mini couch, a beautiful television, fridge, queen sized bed, and adequate storage room/closet space. We particularly appreciated the television offerings (BBC, MSNBC, Fox News, CNBC, 2 ESPN and one odd Prime US station with random US series). We also took advantage of the free movie offerings (Woman in Gold and Trainwreck)..Some of the movies were shown in the Vista Lounge as well (e.g., Antman). The bathroom was typical cruise line size, though unlike HAL, offered liquid soap and shampoo. The porter was efficient.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Post cruise went to Holiday Everglades and saw a cheesy alligator show and a wonderful airboat cruise in the everglades (saw quite a few alligators in their natural environment). From there, we were bused to the airport (FLL)>

Grenada

Nice overview of the island with significant time spent at Douglaston spice plantation.

St. Thomas

Nice overview of the beautiful island.

Aruba

Just walked along the main street as it was windy and overcast. We had done an island tour on previous cruise.
