Let me start by saying that my partner and I have been on many Celebrity cruises, at least 6 and we have always had great experiences. In fact, we are quite loyal to Celebrity. This cruise was an exception and I can only chalk it up to leaving dry dock too soon. Many areas were not finished or still under construction. The new top deck movie theatre/bar area was not even close to being finished, but I don't think it was intended to be. Only the movie screen was installed. Tuscan Grill was not finished when the ship left, but did open during the cruise.

Service was almost non-existent the first day of the cruise. I assume the staff was finishing other projects. I was difficult to even get a drink. The bars weren't stocked yet. And, we had the first bad meal even in Quisine the first night of the cruise. I think it was the server. The table of pretty women at the next table with same server seemed to get great service. The food was not hot and it took forever between courses. We finally gave up and left, still hungry, because it was so exasperating. We thought we would try the new Tuscan Grill the second evening since the daily program said it would be opening night. We tried to make a reservation. They took our "reservation" at the concierge desk and said they would call back to confirm, but they never did. When we called them, they said the restaurant wasn't going to open yet. When the concierge later found out about our problems in Quisine the first night, miraculously the Tuscan Grill was now open and they did comp our meal. We ate at the new Tuscan Grill twice and both times were excellent. They have a slightly revamped menu with some nice new options. The restaurant itself is beautiful.

I had endless problems with key card, new computers or something. I got either locked out of the cabin or could not charge on at least 5 separate occasions and had to have the card either reprogramed or issued a new one. In all fairness, they were very nice about the whole problem. By day three, things were pretty much back to normal and the service had improved immensely. One change that was made which I think is big mistake, they took out half the lounge chairs in the Solarium and put in tables for people to eat at the Aqua Spa Café. There were never enough lounge chairs in the solarium and by half way through the cruise, people would come down at 8 am to grab a chair in the solarium making the situation even worse.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A1

This cabin has a very large balcony, but little privacy since it overlooks the Oceanview bar below. It was in pretty good shape. The desk top (as on other ships in this class) is badly stained and cannot be cleaned. Whatever material they chose for the desktops was a very poor choice. Cabin attendant, Somchai, was very good.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

It is getting scary to walk around downtown anymore. It's like Jamaica where everyone is trying to pull you into their shop to sell you something. New time I will either take an excursion or stay on the ship.
