We paid extra for a balcony. The room was okaylooked clean until you looked closer. There was filth in the corners by the head of the bed. It looked like it had not been cleaned for years. The first evening we went to play the trivia game that was organized by the cruise line. No one showed up to do it except the passengers. Finally, we went to the information desk and they told us someone was on the way. Thirty minutes later, we were still waiting. They assured us someone was coming. Finally, 30 minutes or so later, someone came to say no one was coming to do the activity. They took all our room numbers and told us we would be contacted for a special session later that never happened.

The first night out, there was a storm so the roughness was explainable; however, the entire rest of the trip on calm water, this boat road like a roller coaster. I do not know if it was because it is a small boat (and you notice I did not call it a ship)or what. This was a "freestyle cruise". We opted for the dining room the first evening; and, even though they were not busy, it took over two hours to get served and eat our dinner. On all other ships on which I have sailed, the waiters worked for tips and you had the same waiters every time you ate in the dining room. On this cruise, passengers were assessed a $12/per person per day service charge that was for the gratuity so there seemed to be no incentive for good service. The buffet was alright for breakfast and lunch, but it was absolutely terrible for dinner. Everyone was complaining about the food on the cruise. Out of all the meals we had on the ship, I think only one of them was even served somewhere close to warm. The buffet steam tables evidently did not work since the food was almost always cold. On previous cruises I have been on, the desserts were fantastic; however, the ones on this cruise were just so-so. We tried room service one day and that food was also delivered cold.

As for the ports, we went to Costa Maya, Mexico, Belize, Santa Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala, and Cozumel, Mexico. Costa Maya and Santa Tomas could have been left off the trip. I had been to Belize before most individuals do not know that there is no beach in Belize unless you pay for a water taxi to take you to a small island.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BD

Balcony was good; however, one day we came back and there were cigarette butts on our balcony and neither of us smoke! Stateroom was on deck 9 and big theatre was on 7 and 8. Room was very noisy at night. Also, there seemed to be a band and activities on Deck 10 late in the evening and they were extremely noisy.
