Overall the cruise was ok. My 4th Carnival cruise over the last 15 years. We departed late--very little info given as to why--Capt gave no "PA" or briefing over the loudspeaker--like NONE, NADDA--the whole trip..and we swapped out Captain's in Key West! One thing I like about RCL and other cruise lines is the Capt's PA (Public Address) every day at 1200 noon...the where we are, how long to get where we are going, facts about the ship etc...) more on that later. I noticed the crew kinda had a "low Morale" overall...and it showed all over the ship---they did just finish a 12 day so maybe they are tired and overworked--but its a noticeable issue that make the trip a little "less then stellar" Food was average to it was "ok" nothing to write home about or rave about....Shows were ok to good, I am amazed they can pull all this off underway on a ship! No show on day one of cruise as it was "bumpy" but I am calling BS on this as I have been in a lot more rougher seas and the "show went on" but I digress again! Arrived in Key West late (as we departed Galveston late) ditched all the CCL tours and went on our own--Conch Train is 1/2 price if you just walk off the ship and buy direct. Getting off the boat was disorganized as usual...its the way it seems to work at Carnival--not so on other cruise lines....it just doesn't work well for them! Freeport was next (nothing to with about as I stayed on board except for a :15 walk thorough the "give me your money" mall area off of they ship pier side. Nassau was next--walked over to Atlantis (yes you can walk it in about :25 minutes and it is good to walk off all those calories! ) we ended up getting into Atlantis for free--just walked right through to the pool and beach--save your $225 a person! getting back to the cruise I signed up for the "behind the scenes" tour which was actually very good for the lucky 16 of us.....very interesting HOWEVER when we go to the bridge the "Capt" had some issues with social skills and scolded some of the guests with questions--I was a little shocked at this as I fly for a Major Airline and give cockpit tours all the time--yes you do get stupid questions- but just answer them and move on--seemed like we were wasting his time (I thought he needed some personal social skill training myself) we only "took about 5 min" before someone actually asked him if he was always in a bad mood--we were quickly ushered off the bridge....my favorite is my picture with "old crabby" himself--! I guess he must hate passengers as again no "PA" updates or word from the bridge the ENTIRE TRIP. I guess that is not a big deal to some--but on other cruise lines (NCL) you see the Capt'n all the time! He is visible and informative--and it shows in his crew--the morale was much higher on NCL--and I think that starts with the Senior Officers and flows down. Carnival is a good deal for the price--just don't expect 4 stars more like 2.5 stars in all areas...like Food, Shows, Comedy shows...all about 2.5 out of 4. The Triumph is an older ship and the infamous "poop ship" when it had an engine fire--all non events now---the ship appeared clean and we (my wife and I) got what we needed out of it. Oh yeah they overcharged me for the Gratuity TWO days before the last day---4 repeated charges on my Visa card which resulted in a security hold from Visa--they offered to correct it after I went to guest services and saw the mistake..its $84 per person per stateroom they thought we had (4) people but it was actually (2). I decided to pay the Room attendant and Wait staff CASH as I fear Carnival "dips a little in the Gratuity jar" --I also wish they would just pay there employee's a good wage and not have them rely so much on tips! Its a sad story when you actually get the real details! I give the Cruise a 2.5 out of 4. It is what it is....if you are a first time cruiser you will not no any difference to what I mention.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8C

Nice room....Balcony is the ONLY way to go! Little signs of rust in age in the bathroom. But that is picky!
