I wish there was a rating between poor and average. I agree with some of the other reviews I read on this site. The ship definitely needs a facelift, which I understand it soon to take place. Too late for me though. The shower was the bane of my existence. When in the tropics we tend to take at least 2 showers a day. The shower was small to say the least! Then again, so am I! I don't know how really very heavy people managed. There was a cloth shower curtain that seemed none too clean and the shower head was not adjustable. It was impossible to keep the bathroom floor from getting wet.
The food was good, even in the buffet. We ate dinner in the buffet one night because the entertainment was so badly managed that we knew we would miss it if we didn't hurry up and eat. The entertainment manager was definitely not up to even average. There were so many timing conflicts I can't even remember them all. There were even events that were listed in the daily paper that didn't happen, and there were not even that many options during the day anyway! We ate in the Bayou restaurant one night, my husband liked the huge steak, but I was not thrilled with the other dishes. It was a waste of $50 in my opinion.
The merchandise on sale was shoddy and was clearly just there to be dumped! Why else would they be selling Alaska Cruise stuff on a Panama Canal Cruise? This was my first Princess Cruise and probably my last. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression.
