I'm sorry to inform you the consumer of another company that has signed up for the Carnival MC Cruise way of doing business. We started our journey with the Pearl over night from Seattle to Vancouver then changing to the Sun for the Pacific Coastal and the Mex. Riviera part of the cruise.
I am latitudes member I've cruise with others lines and cruised with NCl last year. First no help what so ever getting from the NCL Pearl to the Sun even though they were in the same terminal. Once again the check in process was terrible - computer problems - we waited 2-3 hrs to get on board then - they closed down all of the food venues except for yep - you guessed it - the hamburger hot dog crap. Oh and by the way room service is now 7.97 every time you order except between 6-9 am for continental breakfast. They have also increased what use to be the gratuity charge from 12$ a day range to 15 $ pp. So in addition to the cost of my cruise - i got to pay for 426.00 of " gratuity" which if you look carefully is now referred to has service charge. When I asked different room stewards , bartenders etc. how they were paid with this " gratuity" they stated that they didn't not receive bonuses etc that their contracts are drawn up at the time of employment and that what they get paid. MMMMMMMMMMMMM- well where is this 18% gratuity per drink, special dinner, tipping per day etc going to?? They now charge your card daily and if you do not agree with this practice you have to request a form from the front desk and send it in with in 30 days after your last cruise day in order to get a refund on your "service charge". Oh and the the free dinning packages ,beverage packages - are not free -please don't be miss led. You have to pay the " gratuity" upfront when you select that package they can range from 58- 400 dollars. So figure that you will be paying in addition to your fare anywhere from 100- 800 dollars extra. Anymore expect to pay for everything - like to see how the ship works ,40-50 dollar per person to get a tour of the ship, And please don't get me started about the shopper person or the persons who are suppose to help latitudes -everything is driven toward the almighty dollar . Want a better cut of meat - how about 15-30 dollars more, need direction to the shopping area in port -you have to go to the " forum" on shopping. I 'm giving up on cruising - I may be back when amount you pay is " upfront" not this nickel and dime deception . Ps my husband has tanzaniate poisoning from having to constantly be bombarded with ads for this jem.
Average nothing special
Walked around the cruise ship area and the village - ok nothing great
