This was my 5th Carnival cruise and my wifes first. I promised her nothing short of an unbelievable experience. I cannot apologize enough to my wife for the disappointment that began almost immediately. We boarded the Dream, found our cabin then went up to 'the gathering' for lunch. I was shocked! First at the lack of choices. Second at the lack of quality. Third at the terrible presentation. Last at the disgusting slop they were serving. Nothing short of nasty. I must admit, the feed trough did improve to an edible level. However, we were presented with the same menu over and over. The Scarlett dining room service and food were very well done. My wife was impressed.

As we began getting familiar with the ship, it is obvious that Carnival is more in the people moving business than than any other claim they make. There were obvious signs of disrepair and poor maintenance. The lack of attention to detail was remarkable. Rust noticable everywhere on the exterior. On the lanai deck aft 3-4 glass panels broken out with plywood temporarily installed. Several elevators were out of order the entire cruise. We had stains on our drapes. Our balcony furniture had paint drippings all over it. The glass on our balcony was so dirty looking thru it was just a blur.

We were so excited about our ports of call. Our first was Mahogany Bay. Coming into the bay i began noticing an extraordinary amount of garbage and trash on the water surface. As we were making our approach to the pier, the ship actually has to do a 180. As we were making our turn the water began churning. The garbage and trash and what appeared to be toilet paper began churning up from the bay floor. It was absolutely apalling! Disgusting! Either Carnival is unaware of this or they just don't care. I just find it hard to believe Carnival will put their passangers in any place this nasty when there are other options. Carnivals shopping village is nice and clean. We rode the magical beach chairs to the each. Not much magic except for watching more trash appear in the inlet as we crossed over to the beach.

Adequate. Please clean the drapes. Paint the balcony. Clean the glass. Replace the paint splattered balcony furniture. Other than that, nice cabin.
