We were on the Breakaway 2 weeks ago. To sum our week up in a nutshell, I would say it was disappointing. We had previously cruised on the Jewel, and LOVED it. Things were just not the same. The crew was not nearly as nice & outgoing as they were on the Jewel. Our housekeeper didn't even say hello to us once, on our last cruise we had a knick-name for our guy Marky-Mark and she didn't make our room as clean as we had hoped for. No one seemed to know where anything was or how to get there. The food was always lukewarm, never hot. The food in the main dinning rooms was ok, the specialty restaurants were much better, but again, nothing was hot. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were awful. The buffet was horrible and we tried not to go there often. The sundeck activities weren't exciting (except for the Friday of the cruise - the music was good and the vibe was better). If you didn't wake up early and reserve lounge chairs, you were out of luck. There was almost no place to sit otherwise. When they canceled the private island day because of "rough seas" (after they dragged us all the way there in very rough water and let us get settled in before telling us we had to go back to the ship) they did NOTHING to make it fun. They should have had the beach party that should have been on the island on the pool deck. Music, food, etc... They did nothing. There was no place to sit and put your things down. Forget about pool space. I realize that the waterpark takes up a lot of space on the sundeck but for a boat with that many people on it, they could use more pool space and lounge chair space. The best part of the trip, were the shows. Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor were excellent. I highly advise taking time out of your week to see both.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

The terminal was over crowded and they took forever to allow us to board the ship

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

We didn't get off the boat in Florida because the ship didn't dock until 1:00 in the afternoon. That was far too late to go to Orlando or even hit the beach

Great Stirrup Cay

We were supposed to snorkel at the private island but they canceled the day, even though we were on one of the first tenders over to the island in very rough waters. We were forced back on to the over-crowded boat/sundeck with nothing special to do.
