Arrived for Embarkation early and boarded with no delays. Parking at San Pedro was plentiful and we parked the car just 100 yards from the ship.
My first time on the Ruby. She's prepping for a re-make in a few weeks and it was obvious she's been used by thousands. Very clean and neat. A beautiful ship!
I had a balcony stateroom (B250) which was waiting for me on boarding. My steward, Lino (from the Philippines), was personable, already knew my name, and throughout the cruise took good care of my needs and my stateroom.
The stateroom was neat and clean, and ready for me when I boarded. Luggage had not yet arrived so I was free to explore the ship while others boarded. The "head" is small as everything is scaled down to ship-living size. Lots of storage, hangars, and spaces for luggage and other gear. Room has a safe for personal valuables and things you don't use onboard: wallet, credit cards, passport, etc.
The city tour took us through the downtown area, Fisherman's Wharf, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Stopped at placed giving breathtaking views of the Golden Gate and the entire Bay area. Bus was comfortable and the driver very entertaining and informative.
Did a 2+ hour Segway Tour of Downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp District, and the Waterfront. 6 on the tour... none of us ever used a Segway before. What a blast!
