Our cruise from Quebec to Houston was great. The ports were interesting and we especially enjoyed Quebec, Bar Harbor, Boston and New York. We also met friends on board. While in Quebec we stayed at the Mariott City Center and it was well located for exploring the old city and lots of restaurants.
The Caribbean Princess had too many passengers for the public areas especially in rainy weather when we couldn't be outside. It is laid out just like the other Grand Class ships except it has an extra deck of cabins. However, I noticed the ship seemed a bit worn. In our cabin, a minisuite, the furnishings really need updating. The sofa was dis colored and the pillows drab and thin. The carpet needed a deep clean. A lamp was leaning on one nightstand. There was a tile missing in the bathroom over the tub. The mirror was cloudy. The bed was the most comfortable in the room. Several times we got sewage smells in our cabin. In Explorers the tables had chips or broken corners, chairs were low and hard, and some of the tables were wiggley and some lamps were not working. I sat in some shaking chairs in the dining room a time of two. Throughout the ship the carpeting needed updating.
The service we got from our cabin steward was very good. He was quick with cleaning the cabin and filled any requests we had quickly. However, three days before the cruise was over we tried to send in some laundry and were told they weren't doing it any longer. It would have been nice to be notified.
Cabin was the typical layout, but it needed renovation. The carpet looked worn and needed a deep clean. The sofa looked dirty or faded and felt scratchy against my skin. A chunk of tile was missing on the tub wall and the mirror wasn't in the best shape. Several times we got an odor of sewage and one afternoon it was so bad I couldn't stay in there. I had been trying to nap and it kept waking me up. The tv remotes didn't work very well either. It was in a good location between the front and middle elevators.
