We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary with this short hop down to Progreso. Got a good price on a Caribe deck cabin where the balconies are almost twice the size of other decks. We had originally picked an aft cabin on the Riviera deck but after reading about the Caribe balconies, I called Princess and scored the C205 cabin, starboard side forward. We left Austin heading for Houston around 0900 and arrived at the terminal around 1300 for our 1330 boarding time.

Embarkation from the Houston terminal wasn't much fun this time. The parking routine was so messed up and disorganized. Those with reservations had to get in the queue with those paying at the gate. Finally someone opened an entrance to the lot and began steering reserved parking cruisers into the parking area. But even then the lot attendants tried to steer us to spots as far away from the terminal as possible. I simply ignored the flaggers and headed to a great spot right up front. Then we got in the conga line to enter the terminal. Once inside, the security check went very fast and we entered the rather fast moving line to the check-in desks. A few minutes later, around 1415, we were onboard and in our cabin. This was when we noticed the sewage type odor permeating the ship.

We unpacked, met our stateroom steward and headed to Crooner's for a cocktail. From this point on the cruise was pleasant and enjoyable. Service at most of the lounges was great but especially at Crooner's where "Rizzy" kept our favorite drinks coming along.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BE

We really liked this cabin, clean throughout and no noise from elevators or service doors. Our balcony was very large in comparison to all the cabins above and even the mini suites below us. The cabin seemed larger than the Emerald deck ocean view cabins we sailed in before on Princess. It was spotless when we arrived and Lecter, our steward, kept it that way. The bath area was typical but usable and the bed was great. Very soft and comfortable. I would recommend this cabin.
