I read a lot of reviews of this ship and a lot were negative but my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised. Embarkation and debarkation were a breeze, although the ship is older, it's very nice and very clean. We booked an inside stateroom mid ship on the 5th floor and the location couldn't have been better for us. Very close to elevators and stairs and one floor away from getting on and off the ship while in port. Our cabin was the usual inside, Very clean and perfect for two people. The bed was a little uncomfortable, maybe needs to be replaced shortly but it was fine. Our cabin steward was beyond excellent, his name was Mark, we told him that we didn't need turndown service each night so when he cleaned in the morning, he left a towel animal each day. He was always around and more than willing to help in any way he could. The ships buffet area is older and quite small but the food was fine and we ate there quite often. O'Sheehan's was very good as was the Ginza where we ate several times. Sushi was fabulous and not expensive, you got a lot for the a la carte charge. I do agree with the people who said it was hard to get a drink but this was only in the pool area, all other areas the bar service was very good. They seemed to have less staff working the pool but keep in mind, they work very hard, I actually felt bad for the staff behind the bar. We found the band at the pool to be really bad, they just played music and sporadically sang, not good at all, no interaction with the audience, I can't imagine they will be there long. Went to a couple of shows, they were good but I found the entertainment much better on other NCL ships, the singers and dancers were very average. The ports were ok, had a great tour in Roatan with victor bodden tours our driver was Ron and he took us all over the island, he bought us fresh fruit and baked goods on the side of the road, took us to the beach and stayed with us until we were ready to leave all for $20 we were gone for about 4 hours. Belize and Costa Maya were ok and took an island and beach tour in Cozumel for $25 well worth it. Overall great cruise would go on the star again!
