This ship had just come out of dry dock and was not at all ready to be put back in service.
The outside areas were a mess. the sports deck was completely closed for construction. outside decks were wet and slippery all day. carpeting was worn. we had five separate maintenance problems in our suite. the iced top of the martini bar was constantly de-frosted.
The food was awful. dishes were randomly named and bore no resemblance to what they were being called. as an example their "veal picatta" did not have capers nor lemon. it came with tomato sauce and cheese. meatballs in the tuscan grill were served ice cold. very dangerous in terms of bacteria and viruses and really not palatable. they could never get protein cooked to the right temperature. it was served either raw or overcooked.
Cabin was comfortable and the butler, Ryan was great. The shower was really narrow and dangerous to get in and out of.
Fort Lauderdale is great. Many excellent restaurants and beaches. I recommend Briney's Irish Pub, Shooters, Tropical Acres and 15th Street Fishery.
Good, safe Mexican port. Very long walk from the ship to the taxis and other ground transport.
Dirty, unsafe and boring. One of the violent crime capitols of the World.
OK, but really not much to do.
Great if you want to see ruins. Port restaurants are OK, but VERY expensive. $15 for a hot dog. $6 for a beer. $16 for a rum punch.
