Our third cruise on the Silly in 18 months, service and crew as good as ever. Captain was in good spirits, not like last May when we went to the Baltic and he was sick most of the time.
Activities team superb. Dancers in show productions have a lot to learn about timing, at least most of the special performers were very good, if not a bit staid, no comedians this trip. Pity there were no late night adult shows in the Celebrity Central theatre.
One complaint is that the Food and Beverage Dept should realise that more and more passengers are vegetarian and it is totally unacceptable that the salad bar has fish/cold cuts between the salad dishes, and that the cheese platters are between the cold cuts platters. Every day in the buffet I saw people using the same tongs for the cheese as for the meat, the spoon for the mash potatoe was in the meat dish alongside, and bits of tuna had been dropped in the egg salad. The variety of vegies and salads is great, but if only there were a small, separate island with no meat or fish, it would make my cruise a much more enjoyable one, and I would not have to see cross contamination. This is something I point out to all managers on duty, but it falls on deaf ears.
Cabin was near the front, which meant there was no engine noise, exceptionally quiet. No noise from the theatre below at any time.
There is a dire need for new hydraulic arms on the cabin doors; the doors make a loud noise when passengers go into or out of the cabin, most disturbing when trying to sleep. At least the doors to the balcony are sliding doors so no banging.
Valetta is a gorgeous as ever, we have been here a few times, and spent a lot of time touring Malta.
Second day took the local train into Athens and walked around the Plaka area for a couple of hours.
In all the ports we only go ashore for a couple of hours to walk around the local area.
Bitterly cold wind
Walked around the market for an hour - nothing changes here.
Ship changed port schedule and we did not get to Haifa
Stayed in Rome and took the train Saturday morning straight to the terminal.
Ship changed schedule and did not get to Ashdod.
