It actually started at the port in Tampa before we even got on the ship. They did not start letting passengers on at the time they stated (I believe noon), it was around 1pm when they started checking in passengers. The line of people standing outside reached to the end of the building. I'm not sure what they would have done if it was raining. We get checked in, go to our room and to the Market Cafe for lunch. Between 4 ice machines, 1 was out of order. Between 2 skim milk dispensers, both were empty. 2 soft serve ice cream machines, 1 for sure was not working, did not check the other. Go to the muster.

Shortly after the muster an announcement was made that the ship needed a repair on the Azipod and we would be leaving at 10pm. We didn't get upset about that, my husband and I were traveling just the 2 of us for the first time in years. We were going to make the best of it. We decided to get a drink at the bar. 3 bars and 45 minutes late we had our drink. We were so frustrated that the service was so slow and terrible. We ended up leaving Tampa at 3am. 2 of our ports were switched due to the late departure. I'm glad our excursions were booked through NCL so I didn't have to try to rearrange them myself.

Most of the time on the ship was frustrating. Nothing serious was wrong, just a lot of things that made it annoying. The last day at sea they did not have any strawberry daiquiris. I'm not really sure how this type of thing can happen with a large worldwide established company. A lot of thing were missed or fell through the cracks. This ship with this crew was not ready to set sail for 6 days with passengers. I haven't decided if I will give NCL another try or not, but I will not sail on the Star again.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BX

Cabin was nice but typical. This was our first time with a balcony and we were pretty excited about it. Ours happened to be Starboard, so the area to look out of was smaller. Our cabin was clean and our steward was very good. I must say he was the only person on the ship that impressed me service-wise.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

I guess I just like a more adventurous excursion. It was a little boring for me. Once you get to the ruins and look at it there really is much else to do. We did get to climb up the last one.
