I drink caffeine free diet coke. Ship had no Coke products. When did PepsiCo buy out NCL? I also found soft drinks in general very limited. Our balcony room had very hard beds and the skimpy 1 inch foam pad was no relief. The cabin attendant did a great job in general but said no additional pads were available. Some of the bar and dining staff seemed unable to provide attentive friendly service. I think auto-tipping might be having a negative impact. What I did really like was O'Sheeans Bar and Grill. Great place to dine, snack, drink, play cards, and hang out. Also the juice bar in the cafe was convenient for wines too. I liked the fact that alcohol free beer was available in general. I was even able to sometimes get Clamato juice to go with it. The food in general was very good and varied. Limited availability of lamb and no lobster was disappointing. In our room the vanity and bathroom lighting was really inadequate. There was only one 110 V outlet. There was no comfortable seating in the room.

There is no large comfortable lounge area with a broad forward view. This seems to be general with the NCL ships where the potentially usable areas are used for luxury suites. I think NCL should change this ship design. The tobacco smoke stink drifts out of the casino into the shops area and even into the atrium. Oh, one last complaint, some of the seats in the theater are broken down sloping down in front. The in room TV had no channel or program guide and the daily ships program was quite useless for finding what was on. If you missed a theater event there was no way to catch a video. The NCL ships should all have a "sports bar" with several TVs that could show varied simultaneous events such as baseball, soccer, rugby, and US football. We NFL fans had an awful time getting to see our games. On this cruise our cruise director was very good. Matter of fact, he was a hoot. The entertainment was pretty good too. It was a shame we had to miss some of it. Due to propulsion system issues our cruise ended a day early. NCL took very good care of us and compensated us for it very well. One individual, Marie Nieto did an outstanding job. Getting us all into hotels turned into somewhat of an adventure for a couple of bus loads of us.

Ponta Delgada
