This was my 6th HAL cruise and our first time on the Eurodam and as usual, HAL didn't let us down. Embarkation was the smoothest we've ever encountered. I had been handed a ticket that said boarding group 8, but one of the attendants noticed I had an "invitation" in my hand and led us to the second floor, where we ended up being in the first group to board at 11:30. Once on board, we were able to go directly to our cabin. Our cabin, 4047, had a deeper balcony, which we really enjoyed. We headed up to the Lido buffet for lunch and were quite impressed with the menu. Speaking of menu's...between our travel agent and some promotion we were unaware of, we had multiple complimentary dinners for the Tamarind, Canaletto, and Pinnacle Grill. We didn't eat in the main dining room at all.

Starting with Tamarind - this was our first time dining at this venue and it definitely won't be the last. My husband has certain eating restrictions and they accommodated him in every possible way. The food was amazing and we will not hesitate to dine there again. We were celebrating our anniversary and as part of the renewal of vows ceremony, we had dinner in the Pinnacle Grill. We enjoyed the food, but due to rough seas the second night, my appetite was a little light. We ate there on two other nights and it was wonderful. They have cut back somewhat, but it was still a very tasty and enjoyable dinner. Over the three different nights, I had the rib eye steak, halibut, and filet Mignon, and my husband had the salmon. Both were cooked according to our liking. The menu states sides are enough for sharing, but that wasn't really the case. We certainly had enough, but if ordering the whipped potatoes, note that the portions for that are individual size. Canaletto was also quite nice. I had the veal and it was very tender. My husband had the fish and felt the portion size to be quite large. They recommend sharing a large plate, but because of our different tastes, we ordered individually and expected smaller portions, but this was not the case.

One of my favorite things about HAL is that the ships are immaculate. Wherever you turn, someone is cleaning something. That's important to me so I was pleased with all of the effort put in to keep the ship shining. When we cruise, we like to relax, so we don't participate in many activities. My husband attended quite a few of the digital workshops, which appear to be very popular. In my survey, I suggested they utilize a larger venue as passengers are often standing or flowing into the hall. He suggests arriving 15 minutes early to secure a seat with a computer.

Our cabin was one of those that has a deeper balcony so we really enjoyed the extra space!
