My wife and I cruised on Thomson Majesty in January 2013, just after her last refit, and fully enjoyed it. But what a difference now. The Majesty has grown old in such a short time, and in my opinion needs updating and modernising. We booked an outside plus cabin which was a lot smaller than anticipated, in accordance with the on-line photographs. The "bathroom" is cramped, and the shower is about the same size as a red telephone box, where water cascaded out around the toilet. The large cabin window was splattered with paint and extremely dirty. I requested a "double bed" formation when booking, and what did we get? Two single beds, which were hastily pushed together when we went to dinner.

The food was very disappointing. At first breakfast, I opted for a cooked one, but the fried eggs were hard, the bacon was a dark grey colour, scrambled eggs tasted like they were out of a tin, and to top it all, the food was just warm. Thereafter, my wife and I ate fresh fruit aka melon, pineapple and fruit salad for the rest of the cruise. Buffet lunch is not worth discussing, salad with meat from the previous evening cut up and "tossed in the salad, and cheese and biscuits to follow or sweet which was repetitive daily. The dinner menu had a good choice of main course, but was repeated on the second week with a slight variation. The biggest problem with dinner was the wait between courses, often the food was warm, and the vegetables were half cooked. Having said that, the cabin stewards (we had two), the dining waiters and wine waiters were outstanding, and service with politeness and smile. Nothing was too much trouble.

The evening entertainment was good especially with a guest comedian from the UK, who was brilliant.
