This was a repositioning cruise from New Jersey to San Juan with stops in St. Maarten and Tortola, and was our 5th cruise on the Summit. We thought our expectations could not be exceeded, but they were. We noticed a significant improvement in smiles and service. We experienced our best ever cabin attendant (thanks Muhajir.). The Maitre d' in Blu, David, was amazing. He was everywhere helping, chatting with everyone, pouring wine when necessary. Sophia, the other Maitre d' was also wonderful. Our favorite waiter, Billy, from Jamaica was assigned Blu this cruise so this was a bonus. The officers were friendly, one coming over and welcoming us back since he recognized us from the February cruise this year. Captain Kate was just great, personable, approachable, funny. Honestly, we have always felt the crew on this ship makes it our ship of choice. You can't appreciate the difference it makes until you have experienced it. The food was outstanding. The beef tenderloin could be cut with a spoon, and all the lamb dishes were expertly prepared. The guest entertainers were very good as were the guitarists, vocalists, duos, etc. However, we are tired of the production shows. The house band, Funk It Up was not to our liking. There have been much better groups in the past with more variety of music. The Activities Manager (wish I could remember his name) from England was the funniest we have experienced. Do not miss him in the Liars Club activity. The Summit is scheduled for Dry Dock in March 2016 but we thought the ship was in excellent condition, clean, sanitary, even the toilets in the pool area are kept spotless with cloths for drying your hands and paper towels by the door for use on the handles. Although they put new loungers by the outside pool this year along with all new pool towels , the loungers at the indoor pool are very worn so I do hope that changes with the dry dock. Overall we could not have asked for a better cruise.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A2

Good location, very quiet. Nice sized room with a decent sized balcony. The bed was very comfortable and located next to the bathroom.

The cabin was very clean with amenities replenished regularly. Our stateroom attendant (Muhajir) remembered to keep our champagne iced until we finally consumed all of it. This has not happened in the past and a pet peeve of mine (who wants warm champagne?)

Port Reviews

St. Maarten

We took a taxi to Orient Beach which is beautiful.
