Seasoned cruiser - first trip with Carnival. Arrived at POM at Carnival's requested time: 1:30 pm for 2:00 pm check - in. Parking garage almost completely filled - parked friends brand new vehicle on upper level (to remain in hot sun for 8 days). Terminal entry line initially snaked around the building, but by the time we parked the line seemed to be moving. In the terminal it was another story - thousands of people with very poor instructions on where they should all be going. We were finally given a numbered card - when the group number was called, it was your turn to check-in. About 40 mins later our number was called - then got on line which curled around, and around, for another 60 mins. For guests of a certain age group, way tooooo much standing. Our friends, one of who requires a wheelchair fared even worse. They actually boarded at the same time we did, when they should have gotten on an hour before. Actual check-in went smoothly as all paperwork was completed prior to boarding. Our cabin (7337) interior, was in a super location, near elevators but not noisy. Comfortable room; our cabin steward Watson was wonderful. At our request, he removed the mini-bar in the refrigerator so that we could keep the pre-purchased sodas cold. Muster drill - walk down to 3rd floor dining room - like herding cattle, but once there the drill went quickly.
