This was our 6th cruise with Carnival. Although DH wasn't hindered by it, I was. He had read about all the reviews of all the changes Carnival had made, I had not. We brought my sister and her husband on this one and this was their first cruise. We were SO excited to initiate them into cruising. Needless to say, I don't think they will ever go again. I guess my complaints may sound minimal to some, but to me they meant alot. Also, I'd like to say I understand completely businesses making cutbacks to save money, but not when it cuts back on the customers who are paying more than previous cruises.

The first thing I noticed was the staff. It appeared as if the staff was cut tremendously. If something was needed you could always find a member of the staff to help. Not this cruise. Although our Room Steward was great, we had a hard time trying to find him when we did need something. Ice buckets...if you want one you HAVE to ask for one. I think that's ridiculous. It's not like you have the option of filling it yourself either, they have to do it for you. Our room steward was great at filling it twice a day for us. Our first day we asked that the partition between our balconies be opened, it took 2 days to get that small task completed and 3 phone calls to Guest Services, WHEN you could get them to answer the phone.

Yes, I am a smoker which I realize bothers a lot of people and I realize it's not healthy for me. One of the new changes is that you can not smoke on your balcony, only on Deck 10, in one of the bars, and in the Casino. Since that is obviously an issue with some people I don't see what the difference is. On deck 10 non smokers are there, as well as in the casino. If it is such an issue, when booking a balcony Carnival could ask the question if they are smokers and put all smokers towards the back of the ship where the wind will take the second hand smoke out to sea. If this is because people abuse the right to smoke by throwing cigarettes off their balcony, what is stopping them from doing that from deck 10? My sister is a non smoker and she could still smell the smoke from people smoking on deck 10, and we were on deck 8.
