We have been on several cruises, the last three on NCL. I love the free style format and the casualness of the excepted attire. I love staying in the Haven. The beds and bedding are heavenly! However, even the Haven on the Breakaway was not as nice as the other two ships we've been on. The halls are very dark with a brown leather wallpaper and create a closeness that actually makes them smaller than they are. The private pool is slightly deeper than ankle high and has large reclined chases in them that are not even in the water. So, I guess the purpose is to wade ankle deep to a chase fully clothed and you won't get wet? Maybe I was missing something, but I thought they would have made more sense if they were actually submerged and you could sit in the pool to read a book or something. Personally, I would have preferred a pool where you could actually swim and the lounge chairs were solely poolside.
The Concierge in the haven, Virginia was her name, was fabulous. She was always so friendly, always greeting you like she was glad to see you, and was excellent at her job.
Overall, the impression of the Breakaway, in comparison to the other ships in this fleet, is dark and confined. You just don't get the feeling that this mega ship is as Hugh as it is. There is not an open feeling anywhere on this ship. Even the open decks are separated by plexiglass partitions.
The haven is wonderful. The bed and bedding is heaven! The haven restaurant was also very nice. We didn't always get the best service though, there were times when the service was very slow and we felt like we were putting them out when asking for anything.
The decor in the cabin was not my favorite, although nice, the dark furniture and the leather wall paper were just not my taste. Everything else was wonderful.
