This is my fourth carnival cruise and the others have been spectacular. This one had some major disappointments. The entertainment was horrible. I don't know who the target audience was but it was really bad. The singers and dancers seemed very amateur (not at all like the other cruise ships). The energy level of the people doing the activities was low so the passengers couldn't really get into it. (They could think about offering more variety of activities such as yoga, pilates, aerobics, water aerobics).
The food in the main dining room was really bad except for the beef tenderloin and the braised oxtails. The soup was always cold (even when it is suppose to be hot). To be fair though, the desserts were exceptional. The melting chocolate cake was to die for. Also, my Dad got is lime sherbet every night. The service of the waiters were awful. They were slow to the point that we decided not to even eat in the main dining room 2 of the 3 nights!! The female was very helpful. But the males were not helpful, friendly and acted like they didn't have any idea of what they were doing or how to serve food.
We had a large ocean suite with a balcony and it was awesome. Lots of space to move around. We started ordering room service and it was very good and prompt.
My parents upgraded and the ocean suite cabin was huge. The sofa bed was very comfortable and the bathroom has a shower and a jacuzzi. There were 3 closets and 2 chest of drawers so there was plenty of space for clothes. Room steward was exceptional. Only drawback was the closet door would not stay closed at night and it was rocky so the light in the closet kept coming on. We ended up just putting towels in the door grooves to keep the door shut at night. The room steward did report it but no one came and fixed it. We also had a problem with water coming from the back of the toilet but they fixed that immediately. (There was no flooding or anything. However, one of my parents slipped but they weren't hurt).
