We sailed on the Carnival Sunshine leaving on October 10, 2015. We had heard great things about the ship, some were true, others were not.
First the good. The crew on the ship was excellent, everyone was first class. One of the nicest crews we have ever had. Also, lots of the Funship 2.0 upgrades. Kind of.
Now the bad. They crammed the 2.0 upgrades into the Destiny, and added a bunch of rooms (and decks). But it was done weirdly. For example, the Red Frog Pub is one of our favorite "go to" places on the Breeze. A really nice place. However, on the Sunshine, it really was part of Ocean Plaza. When there was music in Ocean Plaza, the Red Frog Pub was so loud that it was difficult to hold a conversation. When the more mellow sounds of the Pub were playing, Ocean Plaza had no music. So, while we had the pub, things really alternated between the Ocean Plaza and the Pub.
Full size shower. Let me repeat this, full size shower. Room is a typical small Carnival room, very adequate for two people. Enough storage space. No refrigerator. No sofa or chair, except for a stool in front of the desk. Quiet location, and in the middle of everything!
Octopus Diving is terrific. Real pros
Leeward Island Charters - billed as a snorkel adventure. Really a booze cruise, fun, but not what we were looking for.
One of our favorite ports....weather was a bit cooler and wandering the old town is a great adventure.
Great stop for folks that don't have the drink package on board, or like to sunbathe. Not much else to do.
