We have just returned from our cruise to the Eastern Caribbean on the Norwegian Gem. Wow what a cruise. The cabin was excellent, a balcony cabin on deck 9. The food was excellent as was the entertainment. The theatre shows in particular were like Broadway shows, fantastic. The cruise director, Dan Dan was hilarious, and we found it difficult to go to everything that we wanted to see. Before we went, we read reviews , don't believe the negative ones, some people must be hard to please.the quality and standard of the food was amazing, something for everyone and some of it available 24/7. The shore days to the islands were truly fantastic, with the exception of San Juan, which was more of a city but still good to see. We take our hat off to the crew, so polite, pleasant and helpful

Embarkation at Manhattan was so,organised and fast, we were on board in around 20 minutes, just in time for a beautiful lunch in the Garden Cafe. Sailing out of and Into Manhattan was truly wonderful, a sight to see.

We had a brilliant time, this was our second cruise with Norwegian and look forward to our next cruise with them again.

Port Reviews

San Juan

It was extremely hot and uncomfortable to get around, so we took a guided tour to escape the heat. It was a beautiful Isla d.

St. Thomas

Very beautiful but unfortunately it rained so we didn't see it at its best.

St. Maarten

We took a taxi to Maho beach to see the planes flying overhead, very impressive. Then our very friendly taxi driver took us to another beach about 5 minutes away. It was truly paradise, with turquoise waters and golden sand, and was completely unspoiled, we thought we were in heaven! Our taxi driver even gave us 2 hours there and came back to collect us, what a guy.

Tortola

Quite disappointed in Tortola, and we wondered why the ship even goes there. A half day isn't enough time to get anywhere on the island, and where the ship docks there isn't very much to see.

New York (Manhattan)

We had spent 6 days in New York prior to our cruise, and throughly enjoyed it. We have been to New York before, but it's still wonderful to see again. Sailing from and to Manhattan is a wonderful sight.
