I needed this vacation. The last vacation was New Years. Because of work this 4 night cruise worked for everyone in my circle of family and friends. I arrived in Jacksonville the night before sailing. I stayed at Aloft Hotel near the airport. My friend arranged for pickup the next day. Port JAX was about a fifteen minute drive. Check in was quick and efficient, although one of my friends had a bottle of open water in her bag and they sent her to the back of the room to throw it away. This surprised me because I saw other staff throwing away objects at the x-ray machine. Finally on the ship, I knew what to expect from an older ship. I absolutely loved the quirky decor of the ship. After being on a large ship for New Years, the Fascination was a pleasure to be on. The room was very tight for 3 older women but we made do because we are not room people. I loved the food in the Coconut Grove Buffet, the Inspiration dining room and the grill on the Ledo deck. My daughter renewed her vows in the Library with the captain officiating. The setting was beautiful and my daughter and son-in-law were very pleased. Thanks to Direa, I think that is her name in the Sensation dining room. My daughter missed the appointment because she was not feeling well, we found Direa later and she made sure everything was great. The captain was also awesome. Our ports were Freeport and Nassau. My group just took a taxi over to Lucaya to shop in Freeport. In Nassau, we walked around for about 30 minutes and then took the ferry to Paradise Island. It rained as soon as we got to Atlantis. I stayed at Atlantis while my daughters walked over to Cabbage Beach. Going back to the ferry we got trenched. Everyone had a blast, even in the rain. After getting back on the ship, I went to sleep and missed dinner in the dining room. The Ledo deck was closed because of the winds. The ship was rocking. I could have order room service but I did not want to eat in the room so I went to my assigned dining room and they seated me with others which was fine. I did the Motown show and thought the performers were excellent. Fascination you where what I needed to come back to work refreshed, although I wanted a few extra days :).
