After years of hearing about them, we decided on a short 7-day fly-cruise from Genoa to Venice. Very early Thomson charter flight from Gatwick (06:40) was a shock to the system but all went well and our bags were delivered from check-in to our cabin as promised.
First impressions of the ship: amazing - like a 5-star floating hotel. Staff everywhere and always helpful, and smiling. Our balcony cabin was just big enough and the very large bed was perfect. Although snug, the loo/shower room was adequate. It was lovely to sit on the comfy recliners and gaze at the ocean and (as we were deck 10) a great viewing point for the arrival/departure days into Naples and Venice. Those in inside cabins had to go on deck to witness the same.
Dining: We opted for freedom dining and most nights ate with fellow passengers in the Ligurian Restaurant. My wife is veggy and always found plenty of choice. We both thought that the food and service were excellent. The black-tie events were worth the effort and most people did make it.

Good quality tea/coffee and biscuits provided.
