Sail Date: Sep 2015

We sailed on Sept 21st. The Royal had just arrived from Europe, and it was a convergence of delays. Coast Guard inspection, Customs Inspection, and then Coast Guard drill. At any rate, boarding and departure were delayed. We were not in priority boarding so eventually they moved our line indoors in another building so we were out of the humidity and heat. That was good. There were definitely some complainers, but most took the delay in stride since there was nothing Princess could do about the matter. We boarded before 4pm, headed first to our room, and then went to look over the ship.

We are fairly new to cruising, so like to participate in the "treasure hunt" game that introduces you to all the ways to spend money on your trip. Unfortunately, by the time we got to our rooms and then headed up on deck to look at the recreation deck, it was time for the muster drill. Once that was over, it was almost time for the drawing for the treasure hunt and we had not yet started, so we gave up on that.

We missed dinner the first night in the MDR, choosing to watch sail away since it was our first time out of Ft Lauderdale. It was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed hearing the Love Boat Horn and seeing people in apartment buildings waving to us. You just felt special. We ate in the Horizon court and though it took us a couple days to get used the layout, by the end, we found that the Horizon court and Bistro were superior to the older class of Princess ships.
