Norwegian Star 7-day Mexican Riviera Cruise 1/10/09
Our Norwegian Freestyle Cruise on the Star was much different than any other cruise I've been on. It was neither better nor worse, just different. From the onset, when I saw a sign, at the check-in desk, with a marijuana leaf on it stating it was illegal to bring substances on board, I knew this cruise would be different.
It attracted a more bohemian crowd, a younger crowd. I saw more men with long hair (one carried a surfboard and guitar on board). It seemed to be a happy group of people intent on having a good time. I did not witness any inappropriate or drunken behavior, but rather a group of people who like to do things their way. There seemed to be a lot of first time cruisers on board this sailing (NCL puts name tags at each cabin door which also color codes what level the occupants have sailed with this line). It was priced VERY attractively, and thus attracted a lot of new guests. It was a fun cruise!
Our Oceanview cabin was average size with plenty of closet, drawer space, and a large picture window. The bathroom was one of the largest I've had. There were 3 areas separated by sliding doors: sink, shower, toilet. The shower was one of the largest I've had on a ship too. We were on deck 4 with very little traffic. It was nice and quiet.
