I believe that an objective and unemotional review is critical for the reader (YOU) in gaining the most information possible in both the positive and negative aspects of any review for a cruise line, hotel or resort. I so hope this review will assist or guide you in your decision about a Windstar cruise or act as a tool in your decision in comparing it to equal or similar lines (Azamara, Oceania and Silversea).
Guests/passengers sail Windstar Cruises for its itinerary foremost and Windstar Cruises isn’t yet capable of delivering that promised itinerary or product as of now.
Let me share quickly here just a bit about myself: With the completion of this Windstar Cruise, I now have fifty-one (51) sailings completed with various cruise lines. I also have spent my entire life within the travel industry with 25 of those years flying for a major global airline.
Interesting, busy, lots of waterfront restaurants. Certainly not a Portofino, Italy in charm or ambiance; yet still very enjoyable and easy to walk.
So beautiful. So classy. A 12 minute ferry ride will take you also over to Santa Margarita which is equally charming and a great spot for wine or lunch.
Cannes is French. Very wealthy. For the rich mostly. It does come with a attitude. Makes Beverly Hills look like Detroit. Money, money and more money. A constant 24/7 car show in the best of the best in automobiles simply driving around in circles.
Mixed emotions on Monte Carlo. VERY $$$$$ overall. All about money. The casino where the James Bond films were shot was really a great experience.
Civitavecchia is a great small port city representing the port of Rome. Easy to walk to (from the ship) and several restaurants, shops and markets. Not at all industrial and the Italians are of course always friendly (even when you think they are not).
