Overall this was one of our most favorite cruises (44). The ship was in good shape, the crew was in great shape.
Embarkation: Cruise started 10/1 in San Fransisco, we got on in LA and there were not a lot of people getting on. Time from out of the cab to in the cabin 20 minutes, luggage was 30 minutes later to our cabin.
Cabin: We got an upsell email 3 days before sailing and went from partially obstructed outside to a Mini Suite for a very reasonable amount of money. The mini suite on the Pearl was well laid out with a very nice sized bathroom, has a bathtub shower combo. The rest of the cabin was very tight. NCL calls the bed a queen but it is much closer to a king. Bed was very comfortable. There is a very large couch/sofa bed also in the cabin for extra passengers but was very uncomfortable as a couch as the seat cushion was very hard. The mini suite is the same size as most balcony staterooms we have had on other cruise lines. But at the price we paid it was a great deal. The deck above us (12) was a large overhang above us and prevented us getting wet in some rain squalls and kept the balcony in the shade longer.
The layout of the cabin was much more along the lines of a large balcony. We have had mini suites before and they were larger. There was good storage space but very little space to walk around the bed. Very narrow at the foot of the bed if nightime bathroom break needed. Also very narrow from side of bed next to closet. Could not open closet doors all the way because the bed was so close.
Guide very good, good tour of Tequila factory and beautifyl Puerto Vallarta
Very good guide and got to fishing village, new part of city at emerald showroom and time in the old city.
