The cabin was roomy and very clean.  Our balcony was large. Cabin attendants (2) were very good and polite as well as helpful.  Every night we got not only chocolates but also an animal (made from towels) on our bed.  Each night the animal was different.

We did not take an excursion, having our our plans in NYC.  But Manhattan is always good, no matter what you plan!

The ship is close to many things to do in Boston.  It was easy to take a taxi and get back on time. There were good excursions.  We just chose to see family.

This is a trolley, not a horse drawn carriage.  There were maybe 30 people on the trolley.  It was a delightful way to see Halifax and the guide was full of very interesting information both about the history of Halifax but also personal interest things around the port.

This was an unexpectedly great tour, with retired miners as the guides.  We went down in the mine (horizontally, not miles down) and had a very good experience.

We expected to see 3 lighthouses.  We saw 2.  The winery made very sweet wines.  "Unlimited tastings" was true but with sweet wines few people tried many.  The gouda cheese they made was very good but on a small plate with a few crackers for all of us. Another cruise line tour arrived a half hour early, so that crowded us a bit.

Walking Tour and Tea at le Chateau de Frontenac.  The walking tour was good but rushed.  Tea was definitely not the normal Frontenac tea.  I called to ask about it (after reading reviews on CruiseCritic) and nobody could tell me if it was the normal tea.  The description was changed to "light" tea by the time we arrived on the ship.  You are ushered into a private dining room with other tour groups where 5 treats are already on your plate and you have a foil sealed tea bag (no selection) by your cup. There are no choices for tea cakes or tea.  A waiter walks around and refills your cup with water, but alas, no new tea bag at any time.

Both sites were good.  But the tour was too short.  We had less than an hour at Ste Anne-de-Beaupre and about 30 minutes to walk to the Falls. No commentary or tour came with this.  Just the bus ride to both places.  Ste Anne-de-Beaupre must be seen!  It's spectacular.

Instead, make a reservation ahead and take a taxi for a more authentic tea experience.We used the HAL transfers and hotel (the Midtown Hilton) and arrived a few days ahead of departure.
