Our cruise along the Danube River from Budapest to Nuremberg was wonderful! The ship was beautiful and well staffed. All the excursions were interesting, with very talented and knowledgeable guides. The buses for the outings were very comfortable. And the food onboard the ship was excellent!
However, it was disappointing that we had to do a ship swap after the third day of sailing because of low water levels on the river. That, of course, was not the fault of Viking. They, in fact, were quite prepared for this situation. The swap was done relatively painlessly and we boarded a 'sister' ship that was identical to the one we had left. We missed our original crew, however, who were so friendly and caring.
Our cruise director and concierge switched ships with us and that was a blessing! They were WONDERFUL!! They certainly earned their salaries and carried out their duties with humor and friendliness.
The cabin was lovely. However, there was very little room at the end of the bed to walk through. If the dresser drawers were open, there wasn't even room to stand in front of them. I also would have preferred that the king size bed was separated into 2 twins. The toilet often did not flush. It took several attempts and once I had to call maintenance to get it done.
