This was my second cruise with American Cruise Lines. It was also my first visit to the Pacific Northwest with the exception of a trip to Seattle many years ago. The cruise was to Clarkston, WA to Portland, OR with ports of Richland, WA; The Dalles, OR; Stevenson, WA; Port Kalama, WA; Astoria, OR and Portland, OR. I loved being in this part of the U.S. on a river cruise. It is truly a spectacular way to see the country via the river. The highlight of the cruise for me was seeing Mt. St. Helen's.
I was in a cabin with a window (non-balcony) that I shared with a friend. There were two twin beds and plenty of storage/closet space for two people. The bathroom is small and is similar in size to an oceanview cabin bathroom on a large cruise ship. The cabin was very comfortable for a week on the river. The upper deck has outside seating with tables and chairs as well as rocking chairs, so I didn't miss having a balcony at all. There are also some chairs and loungers on the bow of each deck where one can sit outside. My cabin was kept very clean throughout the cruise.
The food, dining service, enrichment activities (lectures) and shore excursions were all very good to excellent. Entertainment was good, but I would have liked a bit more variety. There are 120 passengers and everyone was friendly. There is a daily cocktail hour and it's a nice opportunity to meet others.
