Sail Date: Sep 2015

I recently took the Scenic Opal on the Danube to Budapest. Although not a fault of Scenic, the river level was very low and limited the ship to only one day and a couple of nights of sailing. We were bused into Budapest from Komaron. However the reason I am compelled to write this review has nothing to do with the river. It has everything to do with Scenic and their awful customer service.

Not once did any of the staff even apologize for the unfortunate situation and how the customers would now have to be bused several hours each day to the various land excursions. They were rushed and acted like THEY were being put out by the situation. The food quality and varieties were awful and the "special" dining options for the Portebello and La Rieve dining was disappointing to be generous. The entertainment was virtually non-existent and the views from the balconies was nothing more than other ship parked a foot outside your window.

To call this a luxury cruise is completely false and I would not recommend Scenic to anyone seeking a river cruise. There are other options and to pay a premium for what is below average at best makes this a terrible value.

Cabin Luxury Suite

Very nice and roomy. No view with ships parked on the side.
