We had cruised twice previously with another high-end cruise line that was terrific and were convinced by friends to take a vacation with them on Silverseas - Silver Cloud. Our experience was highly disappointing, to say the least, and absolutely not worth the price that we paid for it. At the outset, it is important to note that all members of the staff were wonderful, and the level of service was excellent.

However, from our perspective, the food in all venues was a huge disappointment. It was simply nowhere close to the quality that we were fortunate to have had with the other cruise line. Indeed, on one evening, my spouse and I ordered prime rib as a main course in the dining room and were unable to even cut the meat as it was so tough. The menu was also somewhat limited in terms of its choices for main courses at dinner. The buffet lunch in La Terrazza was really ordinary, and the hot dishes were generally prepared with heavy sauces (something that does not appeal to all persons). One day at lunch, I chose the cannelloni due to the absence of anything else that was appetizing in appearance, and it was simply inedible (a rather towering accomplishment for such a typical pasta dish). I have never before had a cannelloni in any restaurant that I was unable to eat. The dining experience is of significant importance on a cruise and unfortunately was really below par on this cruise. The bottom line is that we would never again take a cruise with Silverseas and the elevated price paid that we paid was not justified.
