Recently my husband and I took our family on a cruise to Catalina Island/Ensenada Mexico and before leaving I had been trying to find some information regarding diet restrictions. The reviews and comments I found were not as helpful as I had hoped so I wanted to share our experience in hopes of helping others. On the cruise with us was my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, our oldest son and our youngest son and his wife who live in L.A. My son and his wife are vegan and before leaving they were very concerned they may not have a very good selection on board of things they could eat. The first day on ship they tried the Mongolian Wok and loved it, so we knew they would at least be able to enjoy food from that spot but I really wanted their dinner experience to be more than just the average vegetarian meals on board.
At our first dinner I mentioned to our waiter that the two of them did not eat any dairy products and that even the vegetarian meals may not be appropriate for them. The young man "Nio" brought over a master copy of the menus for the entire week and told them to pick whatever meals they would want for each night and the chef would prepare their meals special for them. Each night they were served a delicious meal…from their appetizers, main course and even desserts. We were so delighted and when my mother-in-law tasted their spaghetti one night and commented on how good it was - the waiter brought her a serving as well. All seven of us loved the food, the entertainment, the shows and everything about this cruise and the incredible staff.
Very clean and excellent. We picked a room close to the dining rooms so it would be easier for our 83 year old mother to get to. Not as much walking. It was also close to the pool area. Perfect location!
